During this humanitarian mission - were we came to the rescue of stranded workers on a development project during the october 2007 Filadelfia floodings using the ARGO 8x8 AVENGER 750 Amphibian - We choose NOT to go back the way we came -through miles of flooded fields and broken levees and got stopped by a huge hole in the levee we were driving on. A boat came to our rescue and proposed to tow the ARGO past & across the hole. The ARGO then got into quite some trouble. The current was so strong that we were hardly moving at all. Worse at one point the winch and tow cable got loose. Note me - the ARGO driver - shifting my weight back as much as possible to get the vehicle's nose out of the water and prop turbulence. In that position the ARGO was slowly taking water and would eventually sink. There was no bilge pump to help out. Note the growing stress on all sides as more and more people try to hold on to the loose winch cable against the drag of the ARGO and the thrust of the Boat's motor and current. All of this happened at nightfall in a river gone wild filled with crocodiles.
